Greetings Whitewater Township,
Just a quick note to remind everyone that the Whitewater Township Board is holding a Public Hearing this Tuesday at 6:00pm, Mill Creek Academy on Old M72. This meeting is to receive input on their proposed restructuring of how our township handles enforcement of most Ordinances. This Civil Infraction Ordinance would allow the township to ticket folks by the day instead of working through issues and eventually taking resident to court when a resolution cannot be worked out. It is cheaper and more efficient but totally eliminates some important protections like "innocent until proven guilty" and "trial by jury". Even for those who feel that this ordinance is needed, this version is overly complicated and gives the township the Maximum power allowed by law with the Minimum oversight.

This Public Hearing is our chance to speak up. Comments will be received in person at the meeting, letters dropped off at township hall, or emails to the clerk's office.
